Berlin
EasyJet has had its own aircraft stationed in Berlin Brandenburg Airport since 2004 and flies directly from there to a large number of major European cities and holiday regions. In 2020, a maintenance station for short checks between landing and take-off was set up directly at the BER terminal. In recent years, the airline has made further investments at BER to optimise the maintenance and repair work for the 135 aircraft in the easyJet Europe fleet as well as the operational processes. To the south-west of Terminal 1, a new and modern maintenance hangar with space for four aircraft – up to the size of the Airbus A321neo – was built in just 15 months.

- Short description
- Choosing the right floor coating system was an important aspect when planning the hangar. The authorities stipulated that the system used must be approved according to the German Federal Water Act. In addition, the maintenance areas in the hall needed to meet slip resistance class R11, while the planned washing area required a slip resistance rating of R11/V4. And that’s not all: In addition to the rolling loads of the aeroplanes, the flooring – spanning a surface are of more than 10,000 m² – would also need to withstand other intensive mechanical and chemical stresses. And if that wasn’t already challenging enough, the floor coating had to be applied within just four weeks.
