Notre-Dame de Paris Cathedral (FR)
Paris
The Roman Catholic church of Notre-Dame de Paris is one of the most prominent landmarks in France. It was built between 1163 and 1345 in the historic centre of Paris, on the right bank of the Seine. A major fire in April 2019 caused severe damage to the interior and exterior of the cathedral. In July of the same year, the decision was taken to carry out a painstaking reconstruction of the World Heritage Site.

- Short description
- The major fire in the cathedral took a heavy toll on the natural stone masonry. Soot and released pollutants settled on and in the walls, causing damage to them. Cleaning was carried out using a solvent-free, film-binding peel-off paste, which traps the impurities. The layer that forms is then stripped off to remove the particles from the masonry.
