Flat roofs need to be inspected at regular intervals and require routine maintenance. Even the best flat roof waterproofing will need to be given an overhaul once it reaches a certain age.
If proper planning is implemented and followed from the outset, a costly full renovation of the roof should not be necessary. In this case, it is sufficient to apply a simple new layer, also called a "regeneration layer".
Refurbishment is carried out when a damage has already occurred. In that case, products are used that fully restore the roofs´ functionality.
Regeneration is carried out when damage could occur in the not too distant future. The decisive factor here is not that the product used fully fulfils the required functionality, but rather that it upgrades the existing and still functional layer.
The German Building Energy Act (GEG) stipulates that if more than 10 % of a roof area is affected by refurbishment measures, a complete energetic refurbishment must be carried out. This means that insulation must be carried out in accordance with this law.
If a regeneration, in the sense described above, is now incorrectly described as a refurbishment, this means that a roof that is not insulated to the current standard would have to be upgraded in terms of energetic efficiency - with high additional costs. It therefore makes sense to describe a regeneration as such and to make it clear on the product side that it is not a refurbishment.
Our solution for regeneration
MB PUReactive+ can be applied directly to the prepared old waterproofing, e.g. bitumen, PVC, EPDM, FPO, etc., without a fleece inlay. This extends the service life of the flat roof waterproofing and consequently guarantees a high level of cost-effectiveness.
This is sustainability and safety at the highest level - the perfect solution!
