Coating of non-dimensionally stable components

Design of non-dimensionally stable components

When selecting a coating system, the dimensional stability of the components is an important requirement to consider. Components for which dimensional changes are not limited are referred to as non-dimensionally stable components. Design-based measures are recommended for optimum protection of these wooden components. Contact with water should be avoided wherever possible to minimise the surface area exposed to moisture.

In addition, a wood stain or an opaque coating should be used for non-dimensionally stable components such as fences, timber framing, carports and wooden panelling in order to optimally protect the wooden component.

We offer translucent or opaque systems for coating components with no dimensional stability:

3 in 1 stains from Remmers are an impregnation, primer and stain in one product. They shield the wood from UV radiation and, above all, protect it from moisture while still allowing it to breathe. In addition, the coatings are protected against mould, algae and blue stain and physically reduce the risk of wasp damage.
After a long life and uniform weathering the wood can usually be repainted without sanding. And looks like new again!

Opaque coatings from Remmers allow the wood to breathe. Their excellent protective function means that very long renovation intervals are possible. Depending on the colour and the weathering situation, it may be more than 10 years before a top-up coat is needed.

There are many ways to protect wooden building elements with no dimensional stability and make them visually appealing. The translucent and opaque product systems from Remmers are on hand to help with this.

Even with their excellent covering power, Remmers protective coatings allow the wood to breathe. An opaque coating provides excellent protection and can make it possible to achieve very long renovation intervals. Depending on the colour and the weathering situation, it may be more than 10 years before a top-up coat is needed. But an opaque wood coating also makes a visual impression: whether in the Scandinavian style, a trendy grey shade or timeless white – or even multiple finishes in combination.

There are many ways to protect and give a visually appealing finish to fences, timber framing, carports and wooden cladding as well as other wooden components with no dimensional stability. The translucent and opaque products from Remmers are on hand to help with this.
