    PREFAB WOODPROTECTION 25 [eco]

Safe protection against moisture and dirt for modern timber construction, based on mass-balanced binders

    Product specifications

    On delivery

    Binder Acrylate
    Density (20°C) Approx. 1.04 g/cm³
    Odour Mild, odourless once dry
    Viscosity (20 °C) Approx. 650 mPas

The stated values represent typical product characteristics and are not to be construed as binding product specifications.

    Field of application

    • Coating of cross-laminated and glued laminated timber elements on all sides for protection during transportation, storage and installation.
    • For use on interior and exterior wood
    • Soft and hard woods
    • Temporary protection against moisture during transportation, storage and installation of cross-laminated timber and glued laminated timber for wall and ceiling elements and modular construction
    • No need for protective film, significantly reduced disposal costs.
    • Can be precisely applied per square metre, no need to cut like protective sheeting

    Properties

    • Film-forming
    • Repels water
    • Vapour-permeable sd 1.1 m
    • Effective restriction of volume increase due to moisture in the treated wood
    • Can be overcoated with conventional coating systems
    • Provides long-lasting protection against moisture (leakage, pipeline damage) during the life cycle of the components.
    • Easy cleaning/washing of dirt, more sustainable version than adhesive film
    • Comparable slip resistance to adhesive films "R10" in accordance with DIN 51097 when dry and wet
    • Significantly reduces cracking on cut edges and end-grain wood
    • Product based on biomass-balanced binders
    • Preparation
      • Substrate requirements

The substrate must be clean, dry, free of dust, grease and loose substances, and prepared in the correct manner.

Dimensionally stable wood building elements: wood moisture content 11-15%

Wood building elements with limited or no dimensional stability: wood moisture content max. 18%

    • Application
      • The values given are based on undiluted material. The best spraying pattern is achieved if the material has a temperature of 15-20 °C.

        Stir well.

Apply with a brush, roller or by spraying.

Airless spraying: nozzle size: 0.28-0.33 mm; material pressure: 90-120 bar.

Air-mix spraying: nozzle size: 0.28-0.33 mm; material pressure: 70-90 bar, atomiser air pressure 1-2 bar.

Seal opened containers well and use contents as soon as possible.

    • Application instructions
      • Ensure good ventilation.

To achieve optimum results, especially on end-grain wood, apply two coats wet-on-wet using a roller.

      • Drying

Practice values at 23 °C and 50% relative humidity.

        Wet film thickness 100 - 150 µm.

Low temperatures, poor ventilation and high humidity delay drying.

The drying process can be sped up using forced drying.

    • Working tools / cleaning
      • Acrylic paintbrush, short-pile roller, airless/airmix spraying equipment

Clean tools with water or Aqua RK-898 Cleaning Concentrate immediately after use.

Ensure that any residue from cleaning is disposed of correctly.

    • Storage / shelf life
      • If stored unopened in its original container in a cool, dry place and protected against frost, the product will keep for at least 12 months.

    • Usage
      • 100 - 150 ml/m² depending on the absorbency of the substrate for surfaces
        200 ml/m² for end-grain wood protection

    • Disposal instructions
      • Larger product residues must be disposed of in the original packaging in accordance with the applicable regulations.
Do not pour liquid coating or residues down the drain, even when cleaning tools. Must not be disposed of with household waste. Completely empty packaging must be recycled.

    • Safety / regulations
      • For further information on the safety aspects of transporting, storing and handling the product and on disposal and environmental matters, please see the current Safety Data Sheet.
