Vion Hilden – Modernisation of the washing hall
As the cutting and logistics site of the Vion Food Group, Vion Hilden GmbH primarily supplies the German food retail trade with beef and calf meat. At the heart of the company's hygiene processes is the washing hall for transport crates, which integrates internal logistics into the production cycle.
As part of a comprehensive modernisation programme—including the installation of a new, more efficient crate washing system—the floor in the washing hall was completely refurbished. The aim was to permanently meet the high standards of hygiene, safety, and cost-effectiveness.
A PU concrete system specially developed for wet areas was used, which offers a robust, slip-resistant, and jointless surface. This further increased hygiene standards and significantly simplified cleaning and maintenance of this heavily used area.

- As the logistics hub for the Vion Food Group, Vion Hilden supplies German food retailers with beef and calf meat. As part of a modernisation programme, the washing hall was fitted with a new PU concrete floor—specially developed for wet areas. The robust, slip-resistant, and seamless surface meets the highest hygiene and safety standards and makes cleaning and maintenance much easier.

- After years of intensive use, the existing concrete floor in the washing hall was heavily worn and showed clear signs of wear and tear. As a result of constant wet operation, thermal stress, and the use of cleaning agents and disinfectants, the surface no longer met the hygiene and safety requirements of a modern food processing facility.
What was needed was a durable, seamless floor system that could withstand mechanical impact loads as well as chemical and thermal stresses. At the same time, the new surface had to be slip-resistant, easy to clean, and hygienically safe in order to ensure the smooth operation of the new crate washing system and compliance with strict hygiene standards in the long term.
