Field of application

  • For use indoors and outdoors
  • for dimensionally stable elements
  • for elements with limited dimensional stability
  • for not dimensionally stable elements
  • For use on interior and exterior wood
  • Dimensionally stable wood building elements: e.g. windows and doors
  • Wood building elements with limited dimensional stability, e.g. folding shutters, matchboarding, summerhouses
  • Wood building elements with no dimensional stability: e.g. fences, framework, carports, planking
  • Primer, intermediate and finishing coats
  • Wooden beehives, bee boxes and other wooden elements used in beekeeping

  • Water-based
  • 3-in-1: sealing primer, intermediate coating and top coat
  • Water-based with a very low solvent content
  • Made from at least 70% renewable raw materials
  • Bee-friendly formula
  • A vegan product based on the information available to us
  • Block resistant (in accordance with Code of Practice HO.03)
  • Non-drip
  • Elastic
  • Does not flake
  • Weather-resistant and UV-resistant
  • Less discolouration due to water-soluble substances in the wood
  • Preparation
    • Substrate requirements

Dimensionally stable wood building elements: wood moisture content 11-15%

Wood building elements with limited or no dimensional stability: wood moisture content max. 18%

    • Preparations

Thoroughly remove any dirt, grease and non-adhering old coatings.

Sand grey and weathered wood surfaces down to sound, bright wood.

Remove loose knots and any surface resin with a suitable product (e.g. thinner or brush cleaner).

Wood building elements should be constructed so they shed and do not retain water (avoid level surfaces, open end-grain wood, capillary joints, water and moisture accumulation points, contact with splash water, sharp edges), thereby reducing the need to use wood preservatives as far as possible.

Pre-treat exterior wood which requires protection against rot and blue stain with Wood Protection Primer.* (*Use biocides safely. Always read the label and product information before use.)

Observe BFS Code of Practice No. 18 "Coatings on Wood and Wooden Working Materials in Outdoor Areas".

Natural Oil Opaque Finish [eco] (in white and light colours) reduces yellow stains caused by water soluble substances in the wood. For additional protection, prime using Remmers Sealing Primer.

To avoid bleeding of substances in the wood into adjoining building elements (e.g. infilling in framework areas), treat the wood all round.

Old weathered carbolineum coatings can only be coated with dark colours. Always test first with a trial coating.

  • Application
    • Application temperature: min. 5 °C max. 25 °C
    • Stir before use
    • Brush
    • Stir well and apply quickly using a brush.

Apply a second coat once the first has dried.

Apply a further coat if required.

All colours can be mixed with one another.

Seal opened containers well and use contents as soon as possible.

  • Application instructions
    • Drying time: can be worked over after 6 h
    • Check colour, adhesion and compatibility with the substrate by setting up a trial area.

Before coating technically modified woods and wood-based materials, apply the coating to a trial surface and conduct a suitability test on the desired area of use.

Cut end-grain surfaces at the bottom to create a water-drip edge.

Two coats of end-grain wood preservative should first be applied to end-grain wood and cut surfaces in order to protect them against moisture.

Do not use on wood impregnated with boron salts.

Ensure sufficient ventilation when applying indoors.

Areas that are being coated or dried should be protected against rain, wind, sunlight and condensation.

The colour shown on the sample does not appear until the material has dried.

    • Drying

Can be overcoated: after approx. 6 hours

Practice values at +20 °C and 65% relative humidity.

The product’s insulating effect may be impaired if it is diluted too thinly, if the wood is too wet or if the recommended coating sequence, application volumes and drying times are not observed. With water-based coating systems, there is always the residual risk that substances contained in the wood will leach out.

Drying may take longer depending on the type of wood, e.g. oak, due to substances it contains.

    • Thinning

      Ready to use

  • Working tools / cleaning
    • Brush
    • Brush with acrylic bristles, flat brush, mohair roller

    • Clean tools immediately after use with water and detergent.

Ensure that any residue from cleaning is disposed of correctly.

As contaminated fabrics can have a tendency to spontaneously combust, soak them in water before gathering them together under water in fireproof bins and disposing of them.

  • Storage / shelf life
    • Store frost-free and cool / protect for moisture / close containers
    • Shelf-life 24 months
    • If stored unopened in its original container in a cool, dry place and protected against frost, the product will keep for at least 24 months.

Use the contents of open containers as quickly as possible.

  • Usage
    • 75 ml per layer applied / m²
    • approx. 75 ml/m² per coat

      White and light colours:
3 coats of Natural Oil Opaque Finish [eco]
Alternative for greater protection: 2x Sealing Primer & 1x Natural Oil Opaque Finish [eco]

      Medium and dark colours:
2 coats of Natural Oil Opaque Finish [eco]

  • General information
    • DIN EN 71-3 "Migration of certain elements":

This product complies with the limits for the migration of heavy metals to children's toys according to DIN EN 71-3 and thus fulfils one of several further requirements for the safety of children's toys according to the EU "Toy Directive" (2009/48/EC).

Bright (especially white), solvent-based and water-dilutable oil and alkyd resin paints will exhibit varying levels of yellowing during their useful life.

On planed larch and softwoods with a high resin content, the coating may have reduced adhesion and resistance to weathering. This is especially the case on horizontal year rings, knots and areas of winter growth that are high in resin. Maintenance and renovation must be carried out more frequently on these surfaces.
The only remedy for this is pre-weathering or very coarse sanding (P80).
If these wood types are rough-sawn, considerably longer maintenance and renovation intervals are to be expected.

Observe the regulations concerning design principles for wood protection.

Do not use on horizontal surfaces without drainage slopes and without edge radius, avoid accumulated moisture.

  • Disposal instructions
    • Larger quantities of leftover product should be disposed of in the original containers in accordance with the applicable regulations. Completely empty, clean containers should be recycled. Do not dispose of together with household waste. Do not allow to enter the sewage system. Do not empty into drains.

  • Safety / regulations
