    Field of application

    • For use outdoors
    • for not dimensionally stable elements
    • For use on exterior wood
    • Wood building elements with no dimensional stability: e.g. fences, framework, carports, planking
    • Dimensionally stable wood building elements (when used as a primer only): e.g. windows and doors

    Properties

    • Solvent-based
    • Repels water
    • Water vapour diffusion capable
    • Does not flake
    • Film preserver protects against mould and algae
    • All colours are mixable with one another
    • Preparation
      • Substrate requirements

Dimensionally stable wood building elements: wood moisture content 11-15%

Wood building elements with limited or no dimensional stability: wood moisture content max. 18%

      • Preparations

The substrate must be clean, dry, capable of bearing a load, and free from substances that may impair adhesion (oil, grease, wax).

Completely remove old coatings (e.g. paints or medium-build stains), bark, bast and dirt.

Sand grey and weathered wood surfaces down to sound, bright wood.

Exterior wood that is to be protected against soft rot and blue stain should be pre-treated with Wood Preservative Primer*.

Smooth, planed wood surfaces should be sanded and dusted before the coating is applied to ensure better absorption.

    • Application
      • Application temperature: min. 5 °C max. 25 °C
      • Stir before use
      • Application requirements

Temperature of the material, air and substrate: from min. +5 °C to max. +25 °C

      • Apply by brush.

Stir well, including during application or after a break in work.

        Apply further coats once dry.

Seal opened containers well and use contents as soon as possible.

    • Application instructions
      • Drying time: can be worked over after 12 h
      • Check colour, adhesion and compatibility with the substrate by setting up a trial area.

The clear colour version of the product is not suited for use on exterior surfaces that are directly exposed to weather.

Rainfall may cause water soluble substances to bleed from wood that is rich in such substances, e.g. oak, red cedar, afzelia, redwood, etc. This may lead to the discolouration of light-coloured masonry or render.

End-grain surfaces must be sealed with the corresponding colour (at least 2 applications)

Cut end-grain surfaces at the bottom to create a water-drip edge.

Observe BFS Code of Practice No. 18 "Coatings on Wood and Wooden Working Materials in Outdoor Areas".

      • Drying

Approx. 12 hours at 20 °C and 65% relative humidity.
Drying may be delayed on highly absorbent species of wood, in low temperatures and at high humidity.

      • Thinning

        Ready to use

    • Working tools / cleaning
      • Brush
      • Brush (natural bristles)

      • Clean tools immediately after use with thinner and brush cleaner.

Ensure that any residue from cleaning is disposed of correctly.

    • Storage / shelf life
      • Store frost-free and cool / protect for moisture / close containers
      • Shelf-life 24 months
      • If stored unopened in its original container in a cool, dry place and protected against frost, the product will keep for at least 24 months.

Use the contents of open containers as quickly as possible.

    • Usage
      • Total application/absorption rate 160 ml - 180 ml Total / m²
      • 160-180 ml/m² for 2-3 coats (depending on the absorption capacity of the substrate)

    • Disposal instructions
      • Larger quantities of leftover product should be disposed of in the original containers in accordance with the applicable regulations. Completely empty, clean containers should be recycled. Do not dispose of together with household waste. Do not allow to enter the sewage system. Do not empty into drains.
